A recent article in Premier Bride states “For Friday or Sunday weddings, the majority of banquet facilities, photographers, video producers, musicians/entertainers and limousine services are much more willing to negotiate in order to reach a price that suits your budget.” Most couples have the difficult task of not only choosing their wedding venue and vendors, planning their reception and honeymoon but also must think ahead to first homes and children on the horizon. While all of these important decisions on your plate can seem overwhelming the simple choice to save thousands of dollars be selecting a Friday or Sunday can help check off some of the other items on your “Wanted list.” What would you do with an extra $10,000 – $15,000?

“As we were leaving Brandview at 4:30 a.m. New Year’s Eve, rather New Year’s Day by that time, I noticed a sign up book with a raffle drawing promising an iPad 2 ad the prize. Tired as I was, I entered my email without ever thinking my name would be selected. “Seriously who ever wins this stuff?” I thought!! So you can imagine my total surprise when I saw the email from Anoush Banquets & Catering that I had won the iPad 2. I was in total disbelief as I had never won anything before. Perhaps now, I should buy a lottery ticket too. Thank you Anoush Banquets and Catering, it seems like this year shows exceptional promise already.”

At Anoush, the joy of giving doesn’t just end with the holiday season. We took our celebrations to all corners of the world with menus inspired by Russian, Arabic, Persian and Armenian traditions and Anoush’s pursuit of culinary perfection. This year we celebrated New Year’s Eve events with fantastic entertainment by Shavo and Ara Martirosyan, an intimate and regal dinner dance, singing sensation Martik and a Cabaret Night in the snow and over 1,000 of our closest friends at all of our locations. We’re still sifting through the glitter but we couldn’t wait any longer to announce the winner of our first ever e-mail raffle giveaway. But before we do why not learn about what you may have missed on New Year’s Eve and also just how we selected the winner of a shiny, brand new iPad 2. At Anoush even the gifts are top notch…

At our Le Foyer Ballroom we rung in 2012 with a full Russian winter wonderland, cabaret dancers, a figure skater in our very own private ice skating rink, giants on stilts that served champagne and a special New Year’s Eve menu that only Anoush Catering could provide. Dancing under our signature crystal disco ball and enjoying the Le Foyer ballroom in all of its glory all were treated to a night to remember by bringing in the new 2012 year with the greatest introduction they had ever seen. Glenoaks Ballroom wasn’t left behind and Shavo and Ara Maritorysan made sure to make the evening electric. A glamorous and beautifully chic atmosphere with a full course Anoush special New Year’s Eve menu meant that all involved were filled with only the finest in Mediterranean cuisine and top notch premium alcohol. For those looking for a more relaxed and refined atmosphere we treated guests at our Galleria Ballroom to an evening of fine dining and dancing all the way into 2012 and made sure that all glided along our dance floor the entire night through. Superstar Martik was featured at Brandview Ballroom and gave Anoush the grandest introduction to the newest member of our family and made sure that 2012 will be filled with even more fantastic memories that only Anoush at Brandview can bring. From russian red caviar to our signature flaming lamb crown we dined fantastically. And the cherry on top of these decadent sundaes? A chance to win the iPad 2 in our email raffle giveaway. Each guest entered their email for a chance to win and with over hundreds of entrants in total the demand couldn’t have been higher.

With help from our friends at Random.org and their cloud hosting service that generates purely random contest winners we set about giving back and extending the holiday cheer to a new year. Originally designed for lottery services Random.org has selected random winners from everyone from The Planetary Society to television stations. So who’s purely random for Anoush? Our first annual New Year’s Eve e-mail contest winner is Yvette Baroian and below is her story:

“As we were leaving Brandview at 4:30 a.m. New Year’s Eve, rather New Year’s Day by that time, I noticed a sign up book with a raffle drawing promising an iPad 2 ad the prize. Tired as I was, I entered my email without ever thinking my name would be selected. ”Seriously who ever wins this stuff?” I thought!! Perhaps now, I should buy a lottery ticket too. Thank you Anoush Banquets and Catering, it seems like this year shows exceptional promise already.”

Congratulations, Yvette, on your brand new iPad 2! At Anoush Catering we use iPads all the time and they’re our second favorite item behind our wonderful cuisine. If only they would come with a side of hummus and grape leaves disguised as a protective case….

With the recent addition of the Brandview Ballroom we look forward to incorporating a rich national history into your future vision and the Anoush touch. The National Registry of Historic Places has already welcomed the Brandview Ballroom as one of its sacred treasures and we welcome you to come Toast! with Anoush at Brandview in the new year. In the spirit of the holiday season we are extending our reduced pricing through January 31st, 2012 to give you an extra heads start in planning your 2012 event.

The construction and grand opening of the Huntley-Evans building that houses Brandview signaled a shift into the new and improved Glendale that we have all grown to know and love, moving away from an undeveloped town in 1887 to its incorporation as a city in 1906. With Huntley-Evans the city of Glendale gained many firsts – first department store, first three story building, first elevator – and it was able to help elevate Brand Boulevard and its surrounding area to the bustling urban metropolis it has become. At Brandview you not only have a classic setting replete with the latest in technology, lighting and top notch cuisine but you have a perfectly located event space that captures the city’s energy and nightlife.

So how does a ballroom become part of a protected and preserved landmark? The National Historic Preservation Act has a series of criteria that can help us all understand how truly special Brandview is:

“Distinctive Character”

Even at the turn of the 20th century Brandview was a large scale undertaking with great aspirations. The grand staircase, over 100 years later, still provides the quintessential royal entrance and gives all guests the same sense of vintage star quality with each passing stair. Every footstep holds a memory and helps build the excitement and anticipation of an evening filled with the Anoush charm. No matter the year Brandview embodies the “distinctive character” of captivating elegance.

“Represents the Work of a Master”

From spectacular views to ornate design and attention to every detail Brandview represents architecture at its best. Anoush has worked tirelessly to capture the true spirit of a classic event space and to optimize the flow and energy of a well crafted venue. With a possible occupancy of 550 Brandview manages to create an intimate setting for every occasion with a range of customizable set ups that can only be described as “the work of a master.”

“Possess High Artistic Values”

No matter the number of breathtaking photos on our website (http://www.anoush.com/venues/brandview-ballroom) the real beauty of the space can only be fully appreciated by visiting us and seeing each and every facet with your own eyes. Art may be relative but we have no doubt that you’ll see the artistry in every gilded leaf and decorated column. Come visit us soon and you can tell all of your friends what “high artistic value” can be.

We look forward to showing you more of what Brandview can offer and welcome you to come check back in to Toast! with Anoush every other Wednesday for more details on all our venues, our event of the month and to view more photos of and testimonials on our Facebook page. And don’t forget, our reduced pricing only lasts through December 24th so don’t miss out on your chance to share your event with us.

For most people, the months of November and December are filled with holiday planning, festive parties, and plenty of time spent with family and friends. But, the holiday months are also a great time for a wedding! There is nothing merrier and more festive than having your wedding take place during the holiday season. And, since this is probably the only time of year that the whole family will be in one place at one time, it is downright practical!

Southern California is known for its great weather during the holiday months, definitely something to take advantage of. Churches, ballrooms, and catering venues in the Los Angeles area are all ready and waiting to host your holiday event.

Give Thanks
Thanksgiving is not just about turkey dinner, cranberries, and football. It’s a time of reflection and sharing. A Thanksgiving wedding can be perfectly full of tradition and family bonding. Giving thanks for life’s blessings by choosing Thanksgiving time to become united as one would no doubt be an especially moving moment for everyone.

Incorporating the beauty of autumn and Thanksgiving into your wedding is easy as… pumpkin pie, of course. Use colors like red, gold, rust, burgundy, brown, tan, dark orange, and yellow. Seasonal fall flowers like mums, daisies, and deeply-shaded roses, along with colored leaves, to create decorations and bouquets are perfect to continue the theme. Decorations for a Thanksgiving wedding can include small gourds and pumpkins used as table markers, wheat sheaves, and cornucopia center pieces filled with seasonal produce and plants. And of course, the meal should feature hearty seasonal food, but not necessarily turkey!

Christmas Bliss
The month of December is a magical month for weddings. With every town and venue already adorned with twinkling lights, silver ribbons, and seasonal flowers, Christmas magic is everywhere! Brides will find that they don’t even have to decorate their venues during this magical time, just go with the theme that is already there! Like Thanksgiving, you can take advantage of your family already being together. Make memories happen. Have family and friends decorate a tree or gather around a fireplace and enjoy each other’s company before the wedding.

Having a Christmas wedding does not mean that everything has to be red and green. Create a winter wonderland by using gold, silver, and bronze to emulate the sparkle of the season. And if you want real sparkle, add twinkling white lights and tulle can for a snowy, romantic effect. Adding a little color into your wedding ceremony can be as easy as choosing red poinsettias or decorating each table with a wreath and crimson candles. And end your ceremony by having your guests throw glittering snowflakes instead of rice or flower petals.

Your wedding is your own holiday. Make sure it is a reflection of you. Working with an experienced caterer like Anoush Catering will help make your holiday wedding an event to remember!

Added to the National Register of Historic Places in 1995, the Huntley-Evans building in all its Art Deco glory was designed in 1921 by architect Alfred F. Priest. Boasting the city’s first elevator, the three-story building at the corner of Brand Boulevard and Harvard Street was considered the city’s finest business structures of its day. In 1922, it became home to The Famous Department Store, Glendale’s first department store and just about the whole city turned out for the Saturday night opening party to marvel at the grandeur as the Shrine orchestra played in the background. Lovingly restored in 1995, the Huntley-Evans building continues its tradition of hosting some of the city’s grandest events as home to the Brandview Ballroom, Anoush Catering’s newest premiere wedding venue.

The buildings storied past and timeless elegance make it a perfect Southern California wedding venue. Outside, Art Deco architectural features, floor to ceiling windows overlooking Americana at Brand, and colorful Art Deco awnings creating an inviting entry point. Inside, the venue hints of timeless elegance with history having been impeccably preserved. Luxurious furnishings, Italian onyx crystal chandeliers, gold-leafed iron railings, and a dramatic spiral staircase are wrought with Art Deco elegance. From the buff hued tufted walls to the crystal chandeliers and gold leafed iron railings, the location can become a perfect backdrop for any special event. With over 13,000 square feet of banquet space, the Brandview Ballroom, inside the historical Huntley-Evans building, is ready to host the wedding or special event of your dreams.

Aside from its historic appeal, the Brandview Ballroom is modern facility that can accommodate groups from 100 – 500 and offers full audio visual capabilities, valet parking and other modern amenities. . The historic Huntley-Evans building is majestic and elegant; perfect for charming your guests and making your event a success. Whether your wedding is modern, traditional or something in-between, Anoush Catering, the Brandview Ballroom and the Huntley-Evans building can make your wedding historic!
